The White Tulips Have Bloomed

Last fall I planted a row of white tulips.  Then, I was worried that they were not in a sunny enough spot.  The last two days have been unseasonably cold, with high winds and snow flurries.

Imagine my surprise when I saw this! ~

These ladies are very demure when the sun is hidden behind clouds.

When the sun deigns to shine for an hour or two, they are downright blowzy.  ~

Sunshine has the same effect on them as too may margaritas around a pool, have on me.  They get a little bit of a floozy, floppy look to them.

I don't remember that happening when I was younger!

If the weather improves, I'll go out and tidy up the bed and that may make them behave themselves a little better.  These girls are in the front yard and I don't want the neighbours to see them this way!

    1. These are the first white ones I have planted. I like them enough to add to them in the fall. Thanks for the kind comment and no mention of the weeds that surround them!

    1. Give the white ones a try. They show up even better than I thought they would when I put them in last fall.

  3. lmao - hilarious. It's so awesome when your first blooms come up. Very nice. (and why do I suddenly have an urge to feed you margaritas?)

    1. Noooo margaritas! There's nothing cute about a tipsy woman of a 'certain age'. lol

    2. Oh, I don't know Maureen. Don't you think we have earned the right. ;)

The tulips are lovely. I don't have the patience for bulbs that don't come back so I stick with daffodils, but I love tulips!

  4. How exciting! Half I time when I plant a bulb I forget I did it until it comes up and then I'm SO excited and surprised. Maybe the margaritas around the pool in summer make you forget planting bulbs in fall when the next spring rolls around?

    1. I know what you mean. I forgot I planted a clump of pink tulips and planted a clump of orange ones right beside it. They say nothing clashes in the garden but these do! I have to cut one colour out and bring indoors each year.

  5. Oh, we have crazy weather here too. Yesterday I could have sunbathed on the beach and the rest of the week it's been chucking it down.
I always remember my grandmother looking after her tulip bulbs - gorgeous flowers aren't they.

  6. Oh those darn tulips. They have a short life in my garden so I pulled them all out 2 years ago but in true tulip fashion they keep pushing through all over that same area 2 years later. I love tulips so I am not complaining but I tend to buy them just for indoor enjoyment now.

    1. I always think I will cut them for indoors, but that would leave the gardens empty. I have the same issue with roses. sigh

  7. They are gorgeous! Are you referring to the tulips or to to many margaritas when you talk about not remembering that happening when you were younger? :-)

  8. Tulips are so wonderful. Every year, I say, I must plant some. I am definitely enjoying yours. Thanks for stopping by Maureen. Your are so right about these dear animals have no voice. We all must do what we can.

  9. Ah, if we did half the things we plan, each year, imagine how amazing our gardens would be!

  10. You make me giggle. What a happy surprise to see these cheery blooms. The cold weather got to mine and unfortunately they did not make it with the latest snow.... xo

    1. Thanks! I've been so busy this spring that I'm afraid I have more weeds than blooms now.

  14. Tulips can be such hussies - but after all they are fabulous!

Love the white ones. My daughter planted a couple dozen last fall and was thrilled to see them bloom this spring. But their blooms popped off and now i"m left staring at headless stems!

Oh well, I guess I'll have to drink a margarita so I can be the floppy one!
