What Would I Do Without Paint?

I wanted an Easter egg tree to hang some little ornaments that were gifts to me.

Pottery barn had a cute one. ~

But, yikes, the price!  This one was $74.79.  What are those people thinking?  I have a hard time spending that much on a 8' tree to plant in my yard!

In a corner store I found this one for 89 cents. ~

It's a little garish.  Okay, it's a lot garish!  It's wood and the branches are flexible, so maybe I can do something with this.

A little grayish white craft paint helps.  An image downloaded from The Graphics Fairy gets Modpodged on and that helps a lot!  Some watered down brown paint gets wiped across it all to add a little age.  A couple of strings of beads attached with a glue gun and this is getting cute!

I have somewhere to hang the little glass eggs and ducky now! ~

Let me think, now.....$74.79 or 89 cents?  Hmmm.

    1. Thanks, Danni. That lamp is the one that was broken and I fixed with the glass glue. It's holding up fine!

  3. I'll take 89 cents! Would not have thought to decoupage the base. Again, great image selection from the Graphics Fairy. I never take the time to browse all the images!!!

    1. I didn't even need to resize the image as I lifted it off a collage sheet on the Graphics Fairy!

  4. Your creativity is a gift. I probably would have hung earrings on it the way it was when I bought it. Or perhaps I wouldn't have even noticed it in the store. You made something neat! Marilyn

  7. Ha ha ha,...that's brilliant. It's nearly impossible to believe that is the same tree and saving over $70 is great. Nice job, Maureen.

  8. PB prices are just nuts. We have a PB out here and they are still nuts. I only buy clearance there. The wee tree (say that fast three times) is swell. Happy Easter. hug amish girl 4 me

  9. I'd say you did a great job for a good price! Can you believe what PB wants for some of their stuff? Sometimes their sale prices are okay but even then I think they are high. I love your little tree. I have one that we have kept from Gramma Hazel. It is a real branch and still in good shape. It is probably from the 1950's. Have a blessed Good Friday- xo Diana
