Inside The Famous Bitter End Nightclub

Since you were all so kind in your words of encouragement to my daughter, as she tackled her live show at The Bitter End, I thought you might like to take a peak inside the club.

This is the oldest rock club in NYC and everyone who is anyone has played there on their way up!

These posters are all originals!  Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, The Band, Bill Withers! ~

Carly Simon, Arlo Guthrie, Dion, Harry Chapin, Cat Stevens! ~

How about Lady Gaga when her hair was still brown?  That's her in the framed pic. She didn't wear many clothes then either! ~

Katie said it was a first to see her name in ink instead of chalk! It may not be lights, but it's an upward move. ~

The live feed made her nervous, but she settled in after the first song and decided to enjoy the moment. ~

This is the first time I have watched a live feed. Hey, high speed only became available to me a year ago and I pay through the nose for limited data use!  Here I sat, in Canada, and it was just like I was in the room with her.  Her sister in laws and myself were messaging her husband, who was at the club, throughout the show via FB.  Sometimes, we forget how amazing these new technologies are!

Thanks to all my blogging buddies who said a little prayer and wished my girl well!  It must have worked, as they have asked her back and a world class record producer has agreed to do some demo work with her.

Did you guys know you had such clout in the entertainment biz?

Move over Simon Cowell; the blogging ladies are picking the stars now!

  3. So exciting!! Tell her congratulations. Will continue to send her best wishes. Don't you just love that we have the technology we have at our fingertips. I love having my little one on my phone so I can watch little videos my daughter sends me or, even better, talk to him on the phone with facetime. So lucky we are!

    1. I sure makes separation easier! Baby took her first steps in Brooklyn and I could watch and cheer for her from here! The little ones take this for granted.

  10. Wow, Maureen! How ammazing is that? I checked out a few of her videos and Katie is one talented girl! I love her voice and her music. She's definitely got what it takes to make it, in my opinion. (not that I'm an expert or anything LOL)You must be so proud!

I don't get to the city too often, but the next time I'm headed down there I'll have to check her schedule to see if she's playing somewhere. Take care and have an awesome weekend! ~Mary

I'm so glad you visited my blog this evening so I could come here and visit you. I'll definitely be sending your daughter's You Tube links to my daughters, in their 20's. They'll love her, too! 1. The toughest part about having Baby and trying to perform in a strange city, is leaving hubby home to babysit while she travels public transit at night. I passed on your message and she is excited to have reached all the way to Africa with her music!

  16. Hey Maureen...Congrats to your daughter. Here's another link that the two of us have in common. I did exactly what your daughter is doing now!! I never did the Bitter End...but I did the very famous Folk City (which is no longer called that, sadly) and Kenny's Castaways, the Speak Easy and several other venues in NYC. I wrote (and still do, but to lesser extent now) my own music and performed it. Back in the late 70s and 80s I played with a few other musicians all my original material. Music was my savior and therapist back in those days (as a struggling single mom and musician).

Tell her to just keep doing it...don't give up. There are so many more opportunities to get her music heard now - with YouTube and the Internet. Wish I had had that. I still perform (I'm 6o by the way!!) and it keeps me young and happy! So...pass that on to her as well.

    Cheers...Linda

    1. Wow! I was working in the music biz in those same years. Up until 2000, I owned a recording studio with my ex. Katie is doing this on her own and you know how tough that is! Where can I hear you tunes?
