You All Made A Difference Today

Every one of you that took up your pen, posted on your blogs, Facebook or Twitter to support Malala Yousafzai, after the Taliban tried to silence her forever, should stand proud today! ~

On her sixteenth birthday, July 12, Malala addressed the UN and gave an impassioned plea for the right of all children to an education.  Wearing a shawl once owned by assassinated Pakistan leader Benazir Bhutto, Malala spoke eloquently and let the world know that the attempt on her life only strengthened her resolve to speak up for those who have not had a voice.  To hear the full 18 min. speech and read the top ten quotes from it, click here.

She closed the speech with these powerful words:

"One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world."
You also made a difference in the lives and success of adoptive parents of older children, when you helped push my daughter's book The Promise to #1 on Lulu.com! ~

Reaching #1 will make many more struggling parents aware of the book and help them to develop strategies for making all their dreams for their adopted child a reality.

If you missed my original post on the struggles my daughter went through in mothering her four adopted children and how they found their happy ending, you can read it here.  The link to Lulu.com can be reached by clicking here.

Today, I am giving each and every one of you a virtual pat on the back and saying a huge thank you for all your caring and goodness!  We do make a difference in the world!

  3. Its so hard to go against the grain and it takes a strong person to stand up like Malala did, we don't realize how lucky we are that we live in this country. Awesome story. New generation, new changes, lets hope.

I have ordered The Promise and The Flawed Farm. Anxious to read them. I know I will cry when I read The Promise. Wishing the best for Farm Girl and her family. Hope the sale of the books is helping her.

  9. I absolutely love this. I cried when I heard her speech. You actually pushed me, without knowing, to include a photo essay of Malala at my work. It was very inspirational to see how many people knew of her and how many were motivated to go and find out more.
Thanks Maureen for getting her word out there.
