Indoor Gardening

Although snowflakes the size of dinner plates are falling outside, I'm puttering in my garden!

I've turned a cloche into a mini terrarium.  ~

If you want to learn the proper way to do this go to Miss Kopy Kat and follow her tips on what drainage to use and what plants are best suited to this form of gardening.  I intended to do that and then remembered I was lazy and just grabbed a hunk of moss and dirt from the front yard.  I added a couple of tablespoons of water and plopped it under the dome.  I did this a week ago and the moss is doing fine. Something that looks like a Forget-Me-Not has sprouted up in there.  How much fun would that be to grow indoors?

A dollar store bird and some eggs add to the fun.  Add a French tablecloth and I have Springtime In Paris!  Set out my grandmother's rose teacup and a napkin with floral cutwork, that she did herself, and I've trampled down the winter blues for another day!

Maeve thinks I've gone mad and won't come out from under the table.  She has no idea this is saving her from the horrors of the puppy I was going to get for some winter fun!

Have a day of living in whatever fantasy you feel like!

  1. I want to come visit your snowy day!!! We have had 80° weather here in FL and I feel like we went from summer of '11 to summer of '12. This girl needs some seasons in her life!!! Oh and a puppy would be so much fun. I may have to try your indoor gardening. Tha would be something neat to have at my office.

    1. The neat thing about a terrarium is that you don't have to water it. I'd gladly trade your for your 80 degrees today!

  5. Okay Maureen I have got to get me a cloche! I have caught myself staring at some off and on at Home Sense but the purse just never opens up to make the purchase. This is so cute and I really could use some signs of spring around my abode!!

    1. My cloche and stand were $7.99 at Homesense. The wreath around the stand was $1.25 at Dollarama. It's not large but is a nice size for the centre of the table.

  7. Hi Maureen. Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a nice comment on my big light fixture turned Cloche. I love your little one. I may figure out how to grow some stuff in mine. Don't think we have any nice moss in the yard ... just lot of thorny thistle. You make it look like so much fun.

    1. You have no idea how amazing that cat is Andre. She does everything I do. You won't believe me, but she washes dishes and floors, works a sewing machine pedal...
