Picture Life Without Them

I took a few minutes today to think about all the people who labour to make this old world keep on running. They are the grease that keeps it turning smoothly on it's axis.

I feel better knowing these folks are there for me. ~

These ones make life a heck of a lot nicer. ~

My mechanic and I have become old friends. ~

A lot of people work hard for the life I enjoy. ~

Others make sure I stay well. ~

Some suffer injury or worse.  This workers memorial in Hamilton, Ontario reminds us of all those who were injured at work. ~

It's a day of honour for them and and a reminder to give thanks for all those who face danger, wear their bodies out, suffer from stress or cope with injuries.

Here's a great THANK YOU to every single person that has worked to give me the goods and services I enjoy every day!

Today is your day and you've earned your R & R, picnics, ball games and BBQs.  Have a great Labour Day!  This party is all for you. ~

  1. Yes, we have many labourers in our family and we celebrated them all today. The retired-guy's bday, too. Hope you had a great weekend. Deb

  2. I can't imagine life without any of them - so nice of you to honor them all Maureen - what a beautiful post.
I remember once arguing with a New Yorker ( while there on business - lucky we didn't lose the account lol ) because he was saying Garbage men were paid to much - after all he continued - they're not doctors.
    Oh really I responded???
Without them we'd be back to the days of the plague - wouldn't be enough doctors on the planet to help you then ...............they are every bit as important to society as a doctor in my humble opinion.
    EVERY BIT.............
All I selfishly thought of was a day off - and not the labor everyone does for us.
    Love this Maureen -
    XOXOXOXO

  7. Although we don't have Labour Day over here, I think it's so right to appreciate those who help us. I had to go and see a nurse at my clinic today (nothing wrong, just the usual female stuff)and she was so charming that she really made my day, and I couldn't thank her enough.
    Lovely tribute Maureen x

  12. This is a wonderful tribute Maureen, it's good to be reminded of the dignity of our workers and the contributions they make to the world. We tend to get so caught up in admiring fame and fortune we sometimes forget about the people who make everything go round.

  13. Interesting how often we judge what people do. I love that you have included all the people who labour including what some consider menial tasks. Try living without one of them.
