In order to get this glass dome and pedestal ~
I had to buy what is called a box lot. I have no idea what I will do with the wooden pieces. Glass domes are scarce as hens teeth and expensive. I bought this whole shebang for $5. ~
I've always wanted an alabaster lamp. My Auntie Kay had one on the bedside table in her spare room and, as a little girl, I thought it was the most elegant lamp I had ever seen. Although I have bought them for my shops, they always sell and one never came home with me.
When I walked in that auction house, the mother of them all was staring me in the face! ~
All eighteen inches of lamp base whispered my name! And then, it shouted my name!
It begged me to look at the glorious detailing. ~
But, it is in the evening when my lamp will take my breath away! ~
I'm sharing this with ~ What's It Wednesday, Transformed Tuesdays, Show And Tell Friday, Feathered Nest Friday
I think I just may have, yes!!!!!!! It's gorgeous Maureen - and the glass dome for 5.00 - it doesn't get much better than that!

very pretty -- I completely get the purchase. (I too feel similarly about chairs.) Enjoy your treasures.
ReplyDeleteYes indeedy, that's a beaut. Only Maeve could make it even more gorgeous. Glad you spotted it. Deb
ReplyDeleteThat lamp is a beauty. I sold two alabaster lamps about 5 years ago and could KICK myself. Yours is beautiful...and that dome (lot box) was worth every penny and more! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteSo glad Maeve has such an elegant new prop!! Love the Master's Choice salt and pepper under the dome. Even though I DID try to stop you from buying the lamp, I am so glad you ignored my admonitions.

The lamp is gorgeous Maureen! I have never seen an alabaster lamp. You got a steal of a deal on the domes. The bowls could be painted for some fun!

Hi Maureen, I wanted to stop by & say thanks for the nice comment, then I see your Treasures....Oh, I love that Dome, a box full for $5 that is unbelievable & of course you had to buy that Beautiful Lamp, I would have done the same. I think that one wood plate, platter is Curly Maple & the other with the inlay is also pretty ~
ReplyDeleteLucky lamp to have found such a good home with someone that loves it for all of its glorious beauty!
ReplyDeleteOh my! I totally would have bought that lamp! Alabaster is just so ethereal in all of it's glowiness. How fun!

Yep I would have bought it too. I love the shot of Maeve behind it.
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful, okay so don't think badly of me but my Mum had a glass dome a while back about a week pre blogging and asked if I wanted it, I said "like I need another dust collector and now I think it's long gone.
OMG...as I started scrolling down the page I stopped at the sight of it...the detailing Maureen is so gorgeous. Oh, I would have bought it too and like you I do not need any more lamps...well, except that one. Yes, I may need that one so if guilt sinks in then just let me know. ;)
ReplyDeleteAfter all the extreme bargains you have scored, you deserved this thing of beauty!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. I love how you can create something out of nothing, adopt dumpster material and turn it into glory, and accept neighbour cast-offs which you then turn into beauty. AND you have an eye for a gorgeous little number like this. You are the real deal my dear.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful lamp Maureen ... I say you should keep it and enjoy.

Hello Maureen! I am so glad you stopped by my page at http://FeedingBig.com. I hope you come back. I have just spent a few minutes looking around your site and I am loving it! I love the lamp, love the glass cloche too! I think I would paint the wooden platters and find some use for them at that point. Stick them in a closet, you just never know!
ReplyDeleteI love your chickens, we used to have some and I miss them greatly. Love the Union Jack Table and would love it if you would come and visit me and paint one or two fo my tables!
I read with interest about your beautiful daughter. I hope she is doing better. She is so beautiful on the inside and outside.
